Orlando Domestic Violence Advocacy Organization Wins Nonprofit Makeover

Stand Up Survivor, based out of Orlando, Florida, won a national contest with The Nonprofit Makeover to receive free digital marketing and fundraising support to help their organization thrive online during and after the pandemic.

When COVID-19 cases surged across the world in 2020, life as we knew it changed. Schools closed, thousands lost jobs, and stay-at-home orders were implemented. Domestic violence advocates across the country expressed concern about the significant increase in client requests while funding continued to be a struggle.

Lisa Alexander, founder and executive director of Stand Up Survivor, is no stranger to the uptick of clients since the start of the pandemic. She started her nonprofit in 2015 after leaving an abusive relationship that changed her life forever. Her mission is to educate, empower, and equip survivors of domestic violence and the community.

“Winning the Nonprofit Makeover was amazing for our organization!  It was wonderful to work with Kristen who has so much experience.  The information we learned will help to catapult our organization to the next level.  Kristen is not only educated in this area but passionate about the work that nonprofits do in their communities,” added Alexander.

“Nonprofits are suffering and closing their doors because they aren’t sure how to pivot during these hard times,” says Kristen Faith, founder of The Nonprofit Makeover. Nonprofits need to rely on technology and social media to engage with their community like never before.

The Nonprofit Makeover offers coaching to help nonprofits leaders raise more money online, transform followers into donors, and reach a larger demographic through the cyber webs of social media.

“It was our honor to select Stand Up Survivor. We believe in their mission and look forward to seeing them reach new heights in 2021,” added Kristen Faith. Our goal is to walk alongside their cause and assist in areas to improve their digital presence. On top of coaching, Stand Up Survivor is also a recipient of an impactful anthem which is a custom song dedicated to their cause compliments of Anthem Music Enterprises

“Storytelling through music is the heart of our company and we’re honored to have chosen Stand Up Survivor for this special prize,” says TerryJosiah Sharpe, AME’s music executive.
